RENATURATION

In the presence of nature, we are more present.

The Renaturation Collection brings the restorative rhythm of the outdoors into interiors—creating spaces that ground, center, and calm. These natural forms—moss carpeting the earth, rivers weaving, trees reaching skyward—are more than aesthetic. Seen without looking, felt before knowing, they’re scientifically proven to reduce stress, enhance creativity, and restore connection.

Rooted in fractal-based research, the collection transforms nature’s calming repetition into a visual and tactile experience—biophilic design as both art and science, redefined. With layered patterns and a palette drawn from rewilded landscapes, Renaturation fosters ease, balance, and a sense of timeless presence.

Designed by 13&9 Design in collaboration with Fractals Research and Dr. Richard Taylor, each wallcovering embeds fractal geometry to merge science with artistry—shaping spaces that truly support how we feel and function.

Fractal-Inspired Wallcoverings

Rooted in the timeless language of nature, the Renaturation Collection harnesses the beauty and regenerative power of natural fractals—featuring two murals and one standard wallcovering:

Fractal River (mural): a flowing composition that mirrors the meandering rhythm of water
Fractal Moss (mural): a layered design grounded in stillness, like lichen overtaking stone
Fractal Bark (standard): a repeatable pattern echoing the quiet strength of tree trunks

Each design falls within the optimal D-value range of 1.7–1.74—shown to deliver wellness benefits to a broad population, including those who are neurodivergent or more sensitive to environmental stimuli.

Through thoughtfully crafted patterns and a rich, complementary palette, the collection captures the spirit of rewilded landscapes—bringing an intuitive connection to nature into the built environment.

The Science Behind Fractal Design

Fractals are intricate self-repeating patterns found in nature—like clouds, trees, and coastlines—that have surrounded and sustained us since the beginning of humankind.

Their visual complexity is measured by fractal dimension, or D-value. A simple line has a D-value of 1 and a fully filled shape has a D-value of 2. Fractals fall between these values—the more detailed and intricate the pattern, the closer the D-value is to 2.

The Renaturation Collection has values between 1.7-1.74, an optimal range shown to deliver the greatest wellness benefits to the broadest population, including those who may be neurodiverse or more sensitive to environmental stimuli.
